Produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) milling machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.


Position Responsibilities

  • Load saw cut material into vices or fixtures

  • Install cutting tools into appropriate tool holders

  • Load tools into machine tool changer in accordance with setup instructions

  • Set tool lengths for each tool using laser tool setter

  • Load programs into machine memory from server

  • Run first part and perform first article inspection

  • Maintains specifications by observing milling, drilling, tapping, chamfering operations, taking measurements, detecting errors or discrepancies, troubleshooting operations, making program adjustments at the control, making tool offset adjustments, sharpening or replacing worn tools.

  • Document actions by completing production and quality logs

  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating job status, details about the current operations in progress, etc.

  • Ensure machines are always running at maximum capacity and efficiency
